Meet Your Speech Therapist
Sharlet Lee Jensen, M.S., CCC-SLP, C-AAIS
Owner, Speech-Language Pathologist & Animal-Assisted Interventionist
I graduated from the University of Washington with a Masters Degree in Communication Disorders in 2003 and started my career at a non-profit early intervention center, working extensively with families from a variety of cultures, home languages, and income levels as part of an interdisciplinary team of therapists. It is from this experience that I honed a holistic view of child development, recognizing that a child’s sensory and motor abilities, as well as family dynamics, significantly impact communication development. Since then I have also worked in schools and a private clinic, as well as working as an independent Autism Consultant to a small outlying school district.
In 2011, I started my own private practice specializing in working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, oromyofunctional disorders, articulation disorders, emotional and behavioral disorders, and Dyslexia. I have a passion for expanding my knowledge base through extensive continuing education to better help the families that seek my services and have already earned four Awards for Continuing Education through the American Speech-Language Hearing Association.
My latest passions include incorporating Animal Assisted Activities into sessions and learning more about the Science of Reading. I am often joined at work by my dog Delta Dawn, who has undergone extensive socialization and passed the AKC Canine Good Citizen Test. When not working, I am a passionate equestrian who competes in several horse sports and homesteads near Arlington with my husband Chuck and our small menagerie of animals.
